BETHLEHEM PUBLIC LIBRARY

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY

The Friends of the Library meet monthly.

Contact the Library at 203-266-7792 for the time and date.

The public is warmly invited to attend.

Who are the Friends?

We are dedicated volunteers working to enhance and improve the library for all residents. Our efforts are coordinated with the goals of the Board of Trustees, the Director, and the staff.  Membership in the Friends of CT Libraries provides us with access to the latest information on policies, funding, and library events. Friends come from all walks of life and all ages, sharing a common love of the library and the recognition of the vital role it plays in the community.

What Do We Do?

We donate money for services and materials not covered in the town library budget. We organize used book sales, a December cookie sale, and biannual literary coffeehouses.

Past projects funded: The computers, the circulation desk, and some solar shades.

Ongoing funding: Membership in DVD & audio book exchanges, additional purchases of books, DVDs, music CDs, audio books, newspapers, craft supplies for story hours and programs for adults and children.

New project: This year the Friends voted to fund the computerization of the library's collection, so that materials can be searched on-line. Loans, returns and reserves can be quickly transacted and preparation of local & state reports with statistics will be facilitated.
